The short version
This site describes what I do. Reading it does not start anything. Work starts when we have both signed a proposal for a defined scope at a fixed price.
What this site is
A description of ways of working together, some of the work, and a form. Nothing on it is an offer capable of acceptance. The prices on it are real and current, but they are starting points: the fixed price for your scope is settled on the call and written into the proposal.
Acceptable use
Read it, quote it with attribution, send it to someone. Do not scrape it, republish it as your own, or present the client work shown here as yours.
Who owns what
The words, the design, the code and the imagery on this site are mine or my clients'. Client work appears with permission and remains theirs. The typefaces are licensed under the SIL Open Font Licence and remain their designers'. "The Long Lunch" is a trademark of the studio.
For commissioned work, ownership transfers to the client on final payment — identity, words, site and system, with editable files. That is a term of the work, not a favour.
Payments and refunds
Set out in the proposal for each project, including the milestones and what happens if either of us stops. The guarantee described on the site is a real term: fixed price, defined scope, and overruns are mine.
Liability
The studio is responsible for the work it delivers. It is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and its liability is capped at the fees paid for the project in question.

These terms are written in plain language on purpose. They are not a substitute for legal advice, and the studio may update them as the work evolves.
